Atago - A light brown fruit that is large even without thinning. It has good quality fruit that is sweet even in cooler climates. Mid to late ripening.
Chojuro - Has a luminous brown skinned fruit with a crisp, mildly sweet aromatic flesh. Very good quality, a heavy yielder, and good keeper. The trees have a nice fall color. Zone 4-9.
Hosui - Sweet, crunchy golden brown medium/large fruit. Midseason ripening, best fruit quality. Susceptible to Pseudomonas disease in wet climates. Prune these trees only in summer to avoid disease problems. Zone 4-9.
Ichiban Nashi - Medium large brown skinned fruit with a mild butterscotch flavor. It is Pseudomonas resistant. Zone 4-9.
Korean Giant - Very large brown fruit with excellent crisp flavor. Fall ripening. Fruits keeps until March. Precocious, productive tree. It is fireblight resistant. Also known as the variety 'Don Bae'. Zone 4 or 5-9.
Nijisseiki - Due to its extreme productivity, this is the most popular commercial variety. High quality, crisp, and juicy flavor. Mid-season ripening round greenish-yellow fruit. Self-fertile. Also known as Twentieth Century Asian Pear. Zone 4-9.
Raja - Golden brown sweet fruits with really good flavor. It grows in Zone 4-9.
Shinko - Large golden brown russetted skin. Highly productive, good keeper until spring. Taste test winner. The fruits are very sweet and juicy. Fireblight resistant. Zone 5-9.
Shinseiki - Heavy bearer of medium large, mild, and sweet yellow fruits. Keeps well. Good disease resistance (Pseudomonas and fireblight). Hybrid of Nijeseiki X Chojuro. These are self fertile. Zone 4-9.
Shinsui - Wonderfully flavorful, sweet fruits are medium sized and golden brown. The crisp and juicy fruits are early ripening. Zone 4-9.
Tennosui - Fruit is crisp and sweet and resists browning when cut. It has fruit the size and shape typical of European pears. Cross between Tennessee European pear and Hosui Asian pear. Good disease resistance.
Yakumo - Yellow, sweet melon-like flavor. Medium sized fruit. The fruits have the best quality for an early ripening variety. Zone 3-9.
Yoinashi - Large golden brown sweet fruit with an excellent butterscotch flavor. It is resistant to Pseudomonas disease. Zone 4-9.
