A low spreading shrubby groundcover distantly related to blueberries with somewhat similarly sweet fruit. It is able to bear under shady conditions. Self-pollinating. Berried Treasure Box Huckleberry prefers acidic soils. Only about a foot tall, it spreads wide over time. Pink flowers in June. Late summer ripening, leaves turning dark red in autumn. Native to Eastern North America.
