Late leafing, producing thick shelled nuts of rich, distinctive flavor. Beautiful wood. Butternuts are also sometimes referred to as White Walnut Trees (Juglans cinerea).

DISEASE RESISTANCE: Poor. Susceptible to butternut canker and bunch disease. Single trees seem to be more healthy than those grown in groves.
