Originally from the Carpathian Mountains in Poland. This Carpathian English Walnut strain of English or Persian Walnut is known for winter hardiness and late blooming in spring.

POLLINATION/BLOOM TIME: Needs pollinator. For proper pollination, plant two seedlings or include a grafted English walnut variety. Usually planted in groves. Corrective pruning to maintain central leader as necessary. Usually 4-5 large scaffolding branches allowed.
RECOMMENDED GROWING AND CARE:
Full sun, balanced moisture, mildly acidic soils and good drainage. Sites with deep (three feet or more), well-drained loamy soils with pH values between 6.0 and 8.0 are best. Intolerant of flooding. Corrective pruning to maintain central leader as necessary. Usually 4-5 large scaffolding branches allowed.
