Highly productive University of California at Davis release. Medium-large, plump, light colored kernels of outstanding quality. Well sealed shells, yet easy to crack. Late blooming to escape spring frosts. Chandler English Walnut is the number one new variety in California.

POLLINATION/BLOOM TIME: Self-fertile.
RECOMMENDED GROWING AND CARE:
Full sun, balanced moisture, mildly acidic soils and good drainage. Sites with deep (three feet or more), well-drained loamy soils with pH values between 6.0 and 8.0 are best. Intolerant of flooding. Corrective pruning to maintain central leader as necessary. Usually 4-5 large scaffolding branches allowed.
CHILL HOURS: Medium: 700 hours below 45F
DISEASE RESISTANCE: Good. It is not as susceptible to walnut blight as most other Californian varieties.
SIZE AT MATURITY: To 40' x 30'. More upright than spreading, and naturally small for a walnut.
