A probable cross of Allegheny Chinkapin with Chinese Chestnut. The result, Connecticut Early Chestnut, has produced a tree with the earliest ripening of any chestnut we've seen. Seedlings start producing 4-8yrs after planting. Grafted/Layered trees start producing 3-5yrs after planting.
