Very late ripening, large nuts of excellent quality. High yield and falls free from the burrs. Judia Chestnut is not a good pollen producer. Portugese Origin. Seedlings start producing 4-8yrs after planting. Grafted/Layered trees start producing 3-5yrs after planting.

RECOMMENDED GROWING AND CARE:
Full sun, balanced moisture, mildly acidic soils and good drainage.
CHILL HOURS: Medium: 400-500 hours below 45F
DISEASE RESISTANCE: Phytophthora can be a problem, especially in heavy, wet soil. Pure European Chestnuts are blight susceptible and are only recommended for the Western United States where blight does not occur, or the midwest states out of the native range of Chestnuts.
