Fairly early ripening of very large, shiny reddish-brown nuts of good quality. Vigorous when young, would make a good timber tree. Resistance to blight, anthracnose, and phytophthora. Marsol Chestnut is a pollinator variety originally selected in France. Seedlings start producing 4-8yrs after planting. Grafted/Layered trees start producing 3-5yrs after planting.
