White, red and black mulberry varieties that can be dwarf, weeping, giant fruited or varieties best suitable for drying.
Early Bird - This is the earliest ripening variety with reddish black fruit. Zone 4-9.
Gerardi - Naturally dwarf form of mulberry. Sweet black fruit. This mulberry is a long fruit type that is originally from the Himalayas. Selected by Louis Gerardi. Zone 5-8.
Ik Soo Bong - Newly introduced variety from Korea. It is high yielding and produces sweet black fruit over a long harvest season.
Illinois Everbearing - Best hardy variety. Extremely precocious, self fruiting, and heavy yielding over much of the summer. It has a very sweet delicious flavor. Seedless. Zone 3-8.
Kokuso - Dark fruited Korean variety. Earlier ripening than Illinois with very high quality firm fruit. It is reportedly even hardier than Illinois Everbearing and grown even farther North, up into Minnesota. Zone 4-9.
Miss Kim - Very large, sweet, black fruit, similar to Illinois Everbearing, but firmer and plumper. It originated in Atlanta, GA, hardy to Zone 6.
Pakistan - The king of mulberries. Fruit up to 4 1/2” long, sweet and flavorful. Very productive over a 2 month period. The maroon fruit doesn’t stain as easily because the fruit is firmer. It is very vigorous. Zone 7-10.
Persian Black - Extremely flavorful sweet tart fruit. Round and juicy. It is best adapted to the Southwest and West Coast states. Grows to 25 ft. if left unpruned. Self-fruitful. Zone 7-10.
Persian White - A very sweet nonstaining white fruiting variety.
Red Shahtoot - Very large sweet red fruits. Shahtoot translates as "King Mulberry". These are for warmer zones, 8-10.
Silk Hope - Excellent quality with a long fruiting season. Widely adapted, tolerates drought or high humidity. It is similar to Illinois Everbearing, but superior in size and flavor. North Carolina selection by A. J. Bullard. Zone 5-9.
Sweet Lavender - Very sweet white fruit with a touch of lavender, no stain. Use fresh or dried. Zone 4-10.
Weeping - Very strong weeper, needs to be staked to the desired height, then it will weep to the ground. Small sweet, black fruit in early summer. It is suitable to be grown in Zone 4-10.
White Ivory - Sweet white fruit for fresh eating or drying. It has a nonstaining pure white fruit. Zone 5-9.
