Beauty - Precocious and productive plum tree that ripens early. Medium large, heart shaped fruits. It is a red Japanese plum that is great fresh or cooked. Somewhat self-fertile. Zone 5-9.
Blue Damson - Oval blue plums used exclusively for jam, jellies and sauces. Fruit is small, freestone, tart and produced in great abundance. It is a late blooming and very dependable plum tree. Originated near Damascus, Syria prior to the 1st century B.C. Self fertile. Zone 4-9.
Brookred - This is a dark red, medium-sized fruit. Plums are good fresh and can be made into jam, wine or juice. Zone 3-7.
Brooks - Similar to Italian plum, with blue-skinned, yellow-fleshed freestone fruits, but a little sweeter, larger and earlier ripening by a week. It is good for fresh eating, canning, and for drying into prunes.
Early Laxton - Very early ripening of flavorful, sweet orange freestone fruits in abundance. The medium/small fruit are very good fresh and especially high in Vitamin C. It has also been rated very high for sauces and canning. A naturally small plum tree, partially self fruitful but gets the best yields with another variety of European plum.
Early Italian -
Elephant Heart - Large, reddish purple skinned fruit in heart shape with sweet red flesh. Very flavorful and a freestone. Self fertile but is most productive when cross pollinated with another Japanese plum tree.
Green Gage - Ancient Armenian variety still widely grown due to its outstanding flavor. Medium sized, round greenish yellow fruits that are great for dessert, canning, sauce or preserves. It is productive & self-fertile. Susceptible to brown rot. Hardy to minus 30° F.
Hollywood - Dark purple leaves and pink flower buds. Outstanding fragrant white flowers in early spring. It develops medium sized red plums in early to mid summer. Zone 4-9.
Imperial Epineuse - Large purple/red skinned fruit with yellow flesh. Exceptional sweetness and flavor. It is for fresh eating or drying. Zone 4-9.
Italian - Large purple fruit, yellow flesh, sweet free stone, dries well. These are very productive. Self-fertile. Zone 4-9.
Methley - Very early ripening Japanese plum. Medium sized purple fruits with juicy, sweet red flesh. These are resistant to Black Knot disease. Self-fertile, productive. Zone 4-9.
Nadia Cherry - Very large cherry-like fruits that are dark red inside and out. They are sweet, juicy, firm and loaded with antioxidants. Good keeping quality. It is best pollinated with other cherry plums or Beauty, Hollywood or Methley plum.
Satsuma - Very hardy and productive plum tree. Exceptional red Japanese plums with firm flesh and a good, sweet flavor. Midseason ripening. It is pollinated by other Japanese plums. Zone 6-9.
Seneca - Very large, sweet and crisp reddish purple plum. Resistant to cracking and brown rot. Excellent fresh or dried. These need another European plum for pollination. Zone 4-9.
Shiro - Medium sized, juicy, yellow Japanese plum. Very productive of good quality fruits. Ripens midseason and is self-fertile. It is somewhat tender in cold winter regions. Zone 6-9.
Stanley - Large blue prune plum with sweet yellow flesh. Late ripening & self fertile. It is the most popular U.S. plum tree variety originating in Geneva, NY. Zone 4-9.
Sugar - A very sweet and richly flavored prune plum suitable for fresh eating, drying and canning. A self fruitful tree with reddish purple fruit. It is known to be a widely adapted, low chill variety.
Toka - Japanese x American plum. Medium to large fruit is firm, spicy, sweet and flavorful. The fruits have reddish orange skin with yellow flesh. Late summer ripening. Self fruitful but also makes a good pollinator for Japanese and American plums. Exceptionally hardy selection from South Dakota. Zone 3-8.
Waneta - Sweet and juicy orange flesh with a very small pit. The skin is a tart red skin and easy to peel. Delicious for fresh eating or jam. Mid to late summer ripening. It is quick to bear and is high yielding. A cross between Japanese plum and American plum. Originated in South Dakota. Zone 3-8.
Yellow Egg - Large oval golden yellow skin and flesh is sweet and juicy, yet fairly firm. Somewhat freestone with very good quality for eating fresh and especially good for jam or canning. Self fruitful, hardy plum trees that are very productive. It is an English variety well known prior to 1676.
