Covered by small yellow star-shaped flowers in March. Produces a heavy crop of dark red, large fruit, up to 1¼ inch long. Fruit is edible and ripens in September, a few weeks later than Elegant™ Cornelian Cherry. Will attract wildlife. Yellow foliage in autumn. Strongly vase-shaped tree and takes well to pruning or grow to 20 ft. x 12ft. Can be spelled 'Redstar' and is also known in Ukraine as the variety 'Vidubetskii'.

POLLINATION/BLOOM TIME: Mid spring. Partially self-fruitful; will set more with another seedling or variety of cornus mas. Does not cross-pollinate with other cornus species.
RECOMMENDED GROWING AND CARE:
Full sun, balanced moisture, mildly acidic soils and good drainage. Remove infrequent suckers to control spread. Plant has a habit of low branching - can be pruned up to show off interesting exfoliating bark if desired. Late season ripening.
DISEASE RESISTANCE: Very good. Resistant to anthracnose.
