Tremendously large, creamy white false flowers, up to 6" wide, in late spring. Deciduous, with glossy green leaves. Bright strawberry-like red fruits attracts and feed wildlife and beneficial insects. Good fall color. Leaves turn red and purple. A healthy grower with a densely low branching habit near the ground yet upright, tall growth and rounded crown, as wide as it is tall to 20ft. VenusŪ Dogwood has outstanding winter hardiness, with good tolerance of drought conditions. Disease resistance to powdery mildew and anthracnose. Patented Rutgers hybrid.

RECOMMENDED GROWING AND CARE:
Full to 1/2 sun in hotter areas, regular balanced moisture, mildly acidic soils and good drainage and lots of organic matter. Benefits from 2-4" of mulch to drip line to conserve root moisture. Prune for shape during dry weather. Leathery-skinned burnt-orange fruits the size of large cherries dangle from long stems. Skin is edible but unpalatable; soft pulp around seeds is mildly sweet and enjoyable, seeds should not be eaten.
DISEASE RESISTANCE: Good. Resistance to anthracnose and dogwood borer.
