The hardiest palm tree, with fan like fronds up to 3 ft. wide. Also pollution tolerant, and will grow in pots. Alternately known as Hemp Palm due to the tough, useful leaf sheath fibers that can be made into ropes or sacks. Prefers cooler temps both summer and winter. Mature plants are more cold hardy than juveniles and more protection is needed for young plants that will face -10° F. Will remain evergreen even when surrounded by snow. Chinese Windmill Palm is native to Asia and slowly grows to about 20-40 ft.
