Selected seedlings that retain dark, maroon to purple color well. Vivid red autumn foliage that shines in sunlight. Produces small red winged samaras which hold the seeds, adding to ornamental interest to this Red Leaf Japanese Maple. A small rounded shrub-like tree with a dense crown and multi-stemmed trunk. Grows to about 18 ft. tall. Part sun to shade. Needs protection from strong winds and late frost which may damage or kill budding stems. This red-leaved maple is known as the variety 'Atropurpureum'.

RECOMMENDED GROWING AND CARE:
Full sun, regular balanced moisture, mildly acidic soils high in organic matter, and good drainage. Takes well to interior thinning to show off trunk and branch form.
